Re-Elect Tony Foriest for N.C. Senate
I enjoy serving the people of Alamance and Caswell Counties. I appreciate your confidence in me and I am asking for your vote.
- Focus on the three issues that were the cornerstone of his 2006 campaign:
- Education: Senator Foriest is deeply involved in the quest to better education achievement, but particularly in Alamance and Caswell counties.
Currently, 57.2% of the state’s operating budget is spending on education at all levels. Senator Foriest is part of the Appropriations for Higher Education Committee,
and his voting record regarding education is top priority.
- Healthcare: Senator Foriest is aware that healthcare is, for some families and seniors,
the biggest issue they are facing today. Since entering the Senate, Senator Foriest has been appointed the Vice Chair of the Health Committee.
Here he is able to address the issues of North Carolinians who do not have access to health insurance and the elderly and disabled, for whom current services are inadequate.
- Economy: As part of the Commerce Committee and as Vice-Chair of the Economic Development Incentives Committee,
Senator Foriest is deeply involved with strengthening the economy of both Alamance and Caswell Counties. On a state level, he is able to effect policy that leads to growth
in these counties. Both counties have achieved high economic growth during his term, with new businesses opening and business expansion in these counties.
- Other Committee Work:
- Senator Foriest’s other committee work includes the Information Technology Committee, the Agricultural Drought Response Committee, and the Joint Government Operations
Subcommittee on Education/Human Resources.
- Also, since the end of the legislative Long Session, Senator Foriest has been appointed the State Health Coordinating Council. He and 26 other appointees from around
the state are charged with providing individual, institutions, state and local government agencies and community leadership with policies and projections needed to guide
local planning for healthcare facilities and services in North Carolina each year.
- In addition, Senator Foriest serves on the Institute of Medicine Substance Abuse Services Task Force. This 54 member committee made up of legislatures, state agency
personnel and healthcare professionals, is responsible for examining substance abuse health services provided by our state.
- Other votes:
- Voted last year to cut taxes by voting to:
- Cut the income tax

dedication and vision working for us in Raleigh.
